  14. it should, at least i think it should, be possible once you have come
  15. across a piece of the web that you're interested in to save it off
  16. to the side (in source form) so that you can look at it again or
  17. add it to your own hoard of stuff.

  19. i went to the 'jargon' section of the web, as served by
  20. iicm.tu-graz.ac.at, to look something up.  (I wanted to see whether
  21. the hacker's dictionary had a definition for 'firmware', since
  22. there's a harangue going on about it in comp.infosystems.  i located
  23. a nice entry on '-ware' which looked pretty interesting and went
  24. to save that to a file (using the command 'source >
  25. $HOME/archives/ware.html' from the line mode browser).

  27. to my slight surprise and dismay, when I went to visit the document
  28. again (using the command 'www ~/archives/ware.html') all of the cross
  29. reference links were just gone.  looking around a little bit I think
  30. that a simple sed command like
  31.     sed -e 's/HREF=A/HREF=http://iicm.tu-graz.ac.at:80\/A/g'
  32. or thereabouts would put things right.

  34. should making a copy of a piece of the web simply be a verbatim
  35. copy of the source, or should it try to make relative links absolute?
